Founded in 2006 by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/labor-union\/united-steelworkers\/\">United Steelworkers<\/a>&nbsp;labor union and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/sierra-club\/\">Sierra Club<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/bluegreen-alliance\/\">Influence Watch <\/a>states that the alliance is made up of  nine labor unions and five environmentalist groups. <em>Notable member organizations include the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/natural-resources-defense-council-nrdc\/\">Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)<\/a>, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/labor-union\/service-employees-international-union-seiu\/\">Service Employees International Union (SEIU)<\/a>, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/labor-union\/united-association\/\">United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA)<\/a>, and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/labor-union\/amalgamated-transit-union\/\">Amalgamated Transit Union<\/a>.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/bluegreen-alliance\/#note-3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/labor-union\/laborers-international-union-of-north-america\/\">Laborers International Union of North America<\/a>&nbsp;was previously a member, but the union quit the BlueGreen Alliance to protest the group\u2019s opposition to the Keystone XL natural gas pipeline.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/bluegreen-alliance\/#note-4\">[4]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><br><br><em>The BlueGreen Alliance receives funding from numerous sources, including federal government grants, contributions from environmentalist foundations, and financial support from member labor unions.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/bluegreen-alliance\/#note-5\">[5]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;The organization is led by executive director&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/kim-glas\/\">Kim Glas<\/a>, a former Democratic Party congressional staffer and official in the Commerce Department during the Obama administration.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/bluegreen-alliance\/#note-6\">[6]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;The executive director of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/sierra-club\/\">Sierra Club<\/a>&nbsp;and the international president of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/labor-union\/united-steelworkers\/\">United Steelworkers<\/a>&nbsp;serve as co-chairs of the board of directors.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/bluegreen-alliance\/#note-7\">[7]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>BGA&#8217;s current head Kim Glas served in the Commerce Dept in Obama&#8217;s administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They receive funding support from labor unions, but moreso from progressive funders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BGA focuses on<br>&#8211; Our staff and supporters:<\/em><br>&#8211; <strong>design public policies, perform research, and run public education and advocacy campaigns to advocate<\/strong>&nbsp;for practical solutions;<br>&#8211; <strong>facilitate dialogue<\/strong>&nbsp;between environmentalists, union members and other stakeholders;<br>&#8211; and&nbsp;<strong>educate America\u2019s labor union members and environmentalists<\/strong>&nbsp;about the economic and environmental impacts of climate change and the job-creating opportunities of environmental protections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seems they mostly operate on state-levels. Such as contributing to getting the CETA (Clean Energy Transformation Act) a law passed in 2019 in Washington state, committing the state to a greenhouse gas free energy supply by 2045. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.wa.gov\/growing-the-economy\/energy\/ceta\/\">link<\/a>) They are now &#8220;endorsing&#8221; (what does that mean?) similar priorities: <a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=2744&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2019\">HB2744<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=2311&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2019\" target=\"_blank\">HB 2311<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=2518&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2019\" target=\"_blank\">HB 2518<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=1841&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2019\" target=\"_blank\">HB 1841<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5877&amp;Chamber=Senate&amp;Year=2019\" target=\"_blank\">SB 5877<\/a>. <br><br><strong>JOHN I NEED HELP! <\/strong>Bills are sponsored by gov representatives, I understand that. But what does it mean for Bluegreen Alliance to &#8220;champion&#8221; this work?  What do they do day to day? How do they quantify their work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On another note, the Keystone Pipeline was a GIANT rift in supporters for BGA&#8217;s work. Makes sense, that push-comes-to-shove about jobs, but, when does this transform, truly?
